The Western Junior Livestock Show was organized in 1937 and has been an
annual event since. The first show included only the feeder calf project but
since that time the show has grown to include sheep, swine, dairy, goats, and
other projects relating to livestock production. The show was developed as a 4-H
youth show to serve as a show window for the livestock industry from this area.
To set a standard of type and quality, which serves as a guide to every
interested producer and provide a competitive outlet for 4-H youth club work
Thursday, October 6th at the Soule Building at 7 pm will be the
annual WJLS Supper. It is a time to get acquainted with new friends and renew
friendships with people that you met at previous Western Juniors. If anyone has
any talents/stories they would like to share you are more than welcome to step
up and entertain us. It may be musical, storytelling or dancing, or whatever you
want to present. It can be an individual or a group. The winner of the Cattleman’s
Family Legacy Heifer will be announced. The 2022 WJLS Honorees will be
recognized for their contributions to WJLS.
